Off-peak gym membership
in Wisbech
Off-peak gym membership in Wisbech: the full gym, nothing restricted, at the hours when nobody else is in it. £21.99 a month after your first.
The cheapest way into a gym this size
Off-Peak is £21.99 a month and gets you everything. Not a cut-down version, not certain machines, not one building. The entire facility, both buildings, all the equipment, the boxing area, the changing rooms.
The only limit is hours. 9am to 3pm during the day and 9pm to 3am at night. Those windows deliberately miss the 5pm to 7pm crush, which is why the price is what it is.
For a lot of people that is not a compromise, it is an upgrade. An empty gym is a better gym.
Who it suits
Whether this is your tier
Parents
School run to school run. The 9am to 3pm window is built around exactly that.
Shift workers
Finishing at 9pm or starting at 6am, the evening window covers you and the gym is virtually empty.
Retired and semi-retired
Daytime is your time and the gym is at its quietest.
Students and anyone on a budget
£21.99 a month with no contract and no joining fee, in a gym with more equipment than places charging twice that.
People who just hate crowds
This is the honest reason plenty of members pick it. No queue for the rack, no waiting for a bench, no one circling your machine.
What you get
Free weights and dumbbells to 70kg, all cardio, all machines, the boxing area, changing rooms and showers, app access and one class included. Plus the free induction with a coach.
What the windows actually feel like
Between 9am and 11am the building is mostly parents and retired members, and there is never a wait for anything. Late morning picks up slightly around the classes. The 1pm to 3pm stretch is the quietest daylight hour of the whole week: you will regularly have an entire rack row to yourself.
The evening window opens at 9pm, once the after-work crowd has cleared out. From about 10pm the place is calm, and the small hours belong to shift workers and people who prefer training with nobody watching. Air conditioning runs the whole time, so the late sessions are the most comfortable ones in summer.
Moving up or down a tier
Nothing is locked in. If the hours stop fitting, ask at reception and you move to Bronze or Silver from the next billing date, with no fee for changing and no restart of any contract because there is no contract to restart. Plenty of members go the other way too, dropping to off-peak when their shifts change.
How it compares on price
At £21.99 a month, this sits at or below what a budget chain charges for a single room of equipment, and it buys you two buildings, over 120 pieces of kit, two competition rings and coaches on the floor. The trade is hours, not quality, and for a lot of people the hours were never the constraint.
